Dr. Sharon O’Neil, PhD, MPH
Dr. Sharon O’Neil is an accomplished pediatric neuropsychologist with more than twenty-years tenure. She currently serves as Director of the hospital-wide neuropsychology research program at the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) and holds a faculty appointment as Assistant Professor of Clinical Neurology at USC Keck School of Medicine.* In addition to these roles, Dr. O’Neil lends her expertise to provide neuropsychological and psychoeducational evaluations for clients of the Curry Psychology Group.
As a neuropsychologist, Dr. O’Neil specializes in the assessment of brain-based conditions including autism spectrum disorders, learning disabilities, and attention deficit disorder. She also evaluates the long term impact of insult or injury to the central nervous system due to medical diagnoses or treatment including preterm birth, congenital heart disease, leukemia, brain tumors, neurofibromatosis, and sickle cell anemia.
Dr. O’Neil obtained her PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Southern California (USC) in 1999, after which she completed two years of advanced fellowship training in neuropsychology at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA). From 2003 to 2012, she directed the neuropsychology program in the Division of Hematology, Oncology and Blood and Marrow Transplantation at CHLA. In 2012, she was recruited to her current position directing neuropsychological research at CHLA.
