Dr. Elizabeth Gramillo is a post-doctoral child and adolescent therapist, who joined us after completing a prestigious fellowship in pediatric psychology at Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC). She is dedicated to providing effective and collaborative care to Curry Psychology Group’s young clients and their families.

Dr. Gramillo’s expertise in child development is exemplified by her wrap-around approach to supporting kids and teens. From the get-go, she establishes strong connections with parents, educators, and outside providers, ensuring that the benefits of therapy extend beyond the therapy room. Dr. Gramillo’s warmth, compassion, and depth-of-knowledge are highly impactful for her young clients, helping to guide them through challenges and reach their full potential.

Dr. Elizabeth Gramillo earned her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from an APA-accredited program at Alliant International University, Los Angeles. APA accreditation is granted only to programs that meet the highest standards of education and training in psychology, ensuring that graduates are well-prepared for professional practice. Dr. Gramillo’s extensive experience in child and adolescent therapy and diagnostic testing includes roles such as Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Therapist for children and teens with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Special Educator for Downey Unified School District, and child and adolescent therapist and psychological evaluator at various doctoral practicum sites. Her training spans a wide range of settings, including Ronald McDonald House in Los Angeles, Ventura Youth Correctional Facility, Pediatric Minds Medical Center in Torrance, and The Guidance Center in collaboration with Miller Children’s and Women’s Hospital Long Beach.

Dr. Gramillo has also contributed to research advancements in child and adolescent psychology through her scientific research and publication of peer-reviewed articles. Her research interests include the effects of high-conflict divorce on children, effective parenting styles, methods for improving kids’ academic performance, and culturally responsive and disability-affirmative therapy.

Fluent in both English and Spanish, Dr. Gramillo provides culturally responsive care to a diverse clientele. Her therapeutic approach includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT, and family systems therapy. She has specialized knowledge in identifying and providing therapy for children with developmental concerns, including Autism Spectrum Disorder and ADHD, as well as addressing a wide range of mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, trauma, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive behavior, and normative grief and stress reactions to parental divorce or complex medical issues. Dr. Gramillo is also trained in advanced psychological and academic testing that can help identify the source of learning or behavioral difficulties, such as ADD and ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, and specific learning disorders. In addition to helping illuminate the underlying cause, these assessments provide valuable insights into how we can best help your child thrive.

Dr. Gramillo is currently registered as a post-doctoral psychological assistant with the California Board of Psychology, and her services are provided under the license and direct supervision of Dr. Shannon Curry.
