Dr. Gisela Vega
Dr. Gisela Vega (“Dr. G”) is a doctor of psychology with more than 15 years of experience as a therapist and psychological evaluator for adults, children, and adolescents. She is known for her warmth and genuineness with clients, and her calm presence has a soothing effect on all those she encounters (colleagues included!).
Dr. G is originally from Argentina, a country that prizes psychological science and is home to some of the most highly-regarded psychology training programs in the world. Dr. G attended several such programs, beginning with her acceptance to Belgrano University’s competitive internship for the assessment and treatment of Autism Spectrum Disorder. She went on to complete dual-fellowships at the prestigious Fleni Hospital for Neuroscience, where she treated individuals with brain injury and cancer, and at Helios Salud, the country’s largest outpatient treatment center for HIV and other infectious diseases.
In 2011, the U.S.-based Devereux Foundation recognized Dr. G’s exceptional talents and recruited her to provide therapy and evaluations for children and adolescents at the Devereux facilities in Pennsylvania. Dr. G accepted their offer and relocated to Philadelphia, working for Devereux for the next eight years.
Dr. G earned her doctorate from Immaculata University in Pennsylvania, where she researched parents coping with a child’s developmental disorder diagnosis. She also completed an APA-accredited doctoral internship with the Immaculata Consortium, where she provided evidence-based therapy for adults experiencing stress, trauma, grief, anxiety, and depression.
With her diverse clinical background, Dr. G is an insightful resource for clients of all ages. She especially enjoys helping adult clients overcome issues with anxiety, depression, grief, parenting, stress, and trauma. She also specializes in psychological assessment, with more than 15 years of experience conducting diagnostic, psychoeducational, mental fitness for police duty, medical procedure, and custody evaluations. Dr. G is certified to administer the gold-standard assessment for Autism Spectrum Disorder: the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS), and she is competent in bilingual (Spanish and English) test administration. At the Curry Psychology Group, Dr. G provides psychoeducational and diagnostic assessments for children, teens, and young adults. She aims to reliably identify issues such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), learning disorders, and other emotional and behavioral concerns, and to provide clear and practical recommendations that will improve the lives of her clients and their families.
Dr. G. is a post-doctoral psychology resident, currently registered as a Psychological Assistant in the state of California (CA Reg. #PSB94025157), working under the license and supervision of Dr. Shannon Curry (CA Lic. #PSY-26449).
