Dr. Kelsey Mendoza, PsyD

Dr. Kelsey Mendoza (“Dr. Kelsey”) is a warm, engaging, and relatable therapist who specializes in working with children and young adults at the Curry Psychology Group. She is sought after for her intuitive ability to create a safe and trusting environment for her child clients, enabling them to quickly experience the benefits of therapy while also having fun. Dr. Kelsey is passionate about working with clients of all ages, and has 8 years of experience providing therapy and assessment services; including adult, adolescent, and child individual, group and family counseling; formal psychological testing for developmental disabilities; and applied behavior analysis (ABA) support services for children with autism and their families.

Dr. Kelsey earned her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Rosemead School of Psychology, an APA-accredited graduate program at Biola University, where she completed doctoral research on attachment-based therapies for children of divorce. Prior to completing her doctoral degree, she earned a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from Rosemead School of Psychology and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with High Honors from UCLA, where she also minored in Child Development.

Dr. Kelsey completed an APA-Accredited doctoral internship at the University of Southern California (USC) where she worked extensively with young adults in the Counseling and Mental Health Center, assisting them with a variety of difficulties such as anxiety, depression, traumatic stress, adjustment issues, spirituality concerns, grief, suicidal ideation, identity issues, and relationship/family conflict.

Dr. Kelsey’s down-to-earth and lighthearted personality, emotional attunement, and keen insight have made her a beloved therapist to her clients of all ages. She approaches treatment from a relational, psychodynamic perspective, and integrates other empirically-supported treatments such as cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and mindfulness-based interventions to best meet each client’s needs. Dr. Kelsey also honors client diversity by valuing each client’s story and appreciating their unique qualities, strengths, and cultural background, all of which she incorporates into treatment.

Dr. Kelsey is a post-doctoral psychology resident and registered psychological assistant for the State of California, working under the license and supervision of Dr. Shannon Curry.
